Laboratory Assistant/PhlebotomistFull Time, 1.0 FTE3rd Shift, 8:00pm-6:30amLocation: Rock Island, ILThe Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the operation, organization of the Central Collection department and for carrying out the philosophy and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the Management Team. Consistently demonstrates attention to detail in following protocol for patient, sample and identification and labeling. Educates others and maintains knowledge of departmental functions, policies and procedures including AIDET and Focus value.Assists with the training new employees, being helpful supportive in the teaching of new associates.Quality AssuranceComplies with procedures and services, including QA guidelines, in consultation with the assigned laboratory supervisor. Performs technical procedures within specified turnaround time for assigned area.Is responsible for executing and monitoring technical practices of the department in order to meet necessary standards, recommendations and requirements of voluntary and government agencies (ie. CAP, JCAHO)Education:High School diploma or equivalent.Phlebotomy course,Medical Assistant,Associate of Arts, preferred.Experience: Experience with phlebotomy, preferred.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Communication skills including reading, writing & speaking fluent english,Adaptability, customer/patient focused,Interpersonal skills andSelf-development.Lifting Requirements:Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.*Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, internal equity, and other business needs.
