Quality Director

Director of Quality is responsible for leading and managing the quality assurance strategy across all field operations for Gilbane Building Company. This role ensures that construction practices meet or exceed industry standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with deep expertise in field quality, construction methodologies, and continuous improvement.The Director of Quality develops strategies that integrate quality with safety, productivity, and profitability. They will report to the Director of Field Operations and collaborate with Operations Managers, and project teams to execute the company's strategic objectives and serves as the functional leader for the execution of field quality standards for the company. ** The job could be located anywhere there is a major Gilbane Building Company office in the continental United States.Develop and implement a comprehensive field quality management system across all projectsEstablish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and enhance field qualityProvide technical reviews, lead root cause analysis and drives corrective action for field-related quality issuesConduct regular site visits to assess quality practices and ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and safety standardsCollaborate with project managers, superintendents, and trade contractors to enforce quality protocolsOperationalizing the quality program to ensure consistent implementation company-wideProvides centralized corporate oversight and direction for all site-based quality programsDesign and deliver training programs for field personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and continuous improvement; incorporate Company’s operational procedures and software tools to the existing quality programEstablish a network of Subject Matter Experts (SME) to reinforce the quality program across critical technical disciplines including building facade, roofing systems, fire protection, water mitigation systems, etc.Build and maintain partnerships with suppliers and vendors to deliver technical support, optimize design solutions, conduct training, and contribute expert insightsDevelop and administer standardized procedures for conducting quality inspectionsIdentify and coordinate quality activities with safe practicesEstablishes and enforces quality control standards to ensure construction projects meet or exceed industry standards and client expectationsAssesses quality-related risks and hazards in construction projects and devises mitigation strategies to reduce potential impacts; collaborates with insurance and legal teams to evaluate contractual, legal, and additional risk mitigation tools to bolster enterprise risk strategies and protectionsFosters a culture of continuous learning, innovation, accountability and excellence throughout the organization, driving employee engagementProvides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to field employees to promote professional growthFosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team membersKEY COMPETENCIESBuild High Performing Teams - Attract, select, develop, recognize, and retain talented individuals. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in business administration, Construction Management, Engineering or related field15+ years in the construction industry or related field, with a focus on field operations with expertise in building envelope systemsOr equivalent combination of education and experienceCertifications such as ASQ CQE, Lean Six Sigma, or similar are highly desirable.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESProven experience in a senior leadership role in the construction industryStrong strategic planning and problem-solving skillsExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to build and maintain positive relationshipsIn-depth knowledge of quality standards and industry best practicesKnowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance standardsKnowledge in building envelop systems and water infiltration mitigation strategies Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.The pay ranges from $137,000.00 - $205,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package which includes competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
