Snyder & Associates is seeking a motivated candidate to join our survey team in the Cedar Rapids office. You’ll gain hands-on experience in both the field and office under the mentorship of licensed professionals.The ideal candidate has (or is actively pursuing) their Iowa Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) certification and is eager to grow into a licensed Professional Land Surveyor. While fieldwork will be part of the role, the primary focus will be on property research, survey data processing, deliverable preparation, and providing technical support to survey and design projects.In this position, you’ll gain experience across a variety of survey services, including:Process Field Data - Download and review field data, add callouts, review utility records, create terrain files, and prepare files for design teams.Property Research & Boundary Work - Examine deeds, plats, and records for use in boundary and Right-of-way calculations. Draft plats and legal descriptions for right-of-way and easements acquisition.Conduct Topographic & Utility Surveys - Establish survey control, collect utility locates and existing features, document site conditions and materials, recover property monuments, document utility structure conditions, depths, and materials, and capture site photos.Support QA/QC & Deliverables - Assist with quality control, file management, and preparation of final survey documents.Collaborate with Project Teams - Work with managers, engineers, and survey staff to ensure thoroughness, accuracy and efficiency for project deliverables.Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience/education toward Iowa Fundamentals of SurveyingIowa Fundamentals of Surving (FS) certification or ability/willingness to obtainExperience with Trimble survey equipment preferredProficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D preferredStrong math, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to project sites as requiredAbility to effectively and safely moveon foot throughactive construction sites and undeveloped ground, uneven terrain and wooded sections of groundMust be able to safely lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds of equipmentMust be able to follow and abide by all company policies and proceduresReliable, punctual, and regular attendanceLife AtSnyderSnyder & Associates has grown to become a large regional civil engineering and planning firm in the Midwest.
