P&C Insurance Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in New York, New York. This Contract-to-Permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a non-profit organization, with a focus on Property & Casualty (P& C) Insurance accounting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of P& C processes, as well as familiarity with Life Insurance accounting. Responsibilities: u2022 Oversee accounting operations related to Property & Casualty Insurance, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. u2022 Manage month-end close processes, including reviewing journal entries and reconciling accounts. u2022 Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. u2022 Conduct financial audits and provide documentation to support audit requirements. u2022 Supervise and guide a team of accounting professionals, fostering collaboration and efficiency. u2022 Monitor and enforce adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards. u2022 Collaborate with stakeholders to address risk management concerns primarily within P& C Insurance. u2022 Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness. u2022 Provide expertise in Life Insurance accounting processes when required. u2022 Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance efficiency. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in accounting, with a focus on Property & Casualty Insurance. u2022 Familiarity with Life Insurance accounting practices and processes. u2022 Proficiency in month-end close procedures, including account reconciliation and journal entries. u2022 Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation. u2022 Experience with financial statement audits and regulatory compliance. u2022 Ability to lead and mentor a team effectively. u2022 Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. u2022 Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
