The position is responsible for EHS across Lennox, directly leading a team of 8 EHS professionals and indirectly leading EHS teams across our operations. The position will interact with the Board of Directors, CEO, executive team, and operations leaders. Candidates must have experience in managing safety, ergonomics, environmental, sustainability programs and active employee engagement programs in a multi-site manufacturing, distribution, and service company. The successful candidate will be a visible and influential safety leader who instills a culture of responsibility, ensuring leaders at every level take ownership of safety performance. This role requires the ability to set clear expectations, hold teams accountable to high standards, and foster a workplace where responsibility for safety and sustainability is shared, consistent, and measurable. This role reports into the EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer.Key ResponsibilitiesPromote a shared vision for EHS ExcellenceDirect, manage and inspire a team of talented EHS leads and external consultantsDevelop, support, lead, and execute strategies to reduce:Workplace safety and ergonomic injury risksEnvironmental emissions and impactsDevelop and implement plans to achieve environmental sustainability goals for energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste, recyclables, & water stewardshipEstablish effective partnerships with business unit operations teams, collaborating cross-functionally, to ensure success and results attainmentDevelop and execute an overall program management and change management strategyDevelop and execute a strategy to centralize disparate fields of data to streamline reporting effortsOversee administration of audits of the company’s facilities and compliance with implementation of the audit findingsPrioritize and continually improve the company’s EHS compliance strategies and management systemsIdentify and monitor safety and environmental regulatory changes that could affect the company’s operations and implement appropriate engagement and/or mitigation strategiesMaintain and improve policies, guidelines, and operational procedures related to EHSTeach and mentor other EHS professionalsAppreciation for the need to recognize performance contributions and celebrate accomplishmentsImplement programs/processes to ensure compliance with domestic & international EHS legislationManage remediation sites: strategy, budget, and assessmentsExperience and QualificationsMinimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least five years developing and executing corporate-wide EHS programsDemonstrated career progression that includes or leads to corporate function responsibilityManufacturing industry knowledge and experienceProven track record managing a teamExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExcellent analytical, project management, presentation, and influencing skillsDemonstrated project management experience in a corporate functionExtensive knowledge of applicable US federal and state EHS regulationsWorking knowledge of Mexican and Canadian environmental regulatory programs (preferred)Working knowledge of safety and environmental compliance and sustainability data aggregation, sustainability reporting, and verificationExperience working with consultants and managing financial reserves to resolve legacy soil and groundwater remediation issuesWillingness to travel up to 25%Leadership CharacteristicsLeads by example and embody Lennox’s core values of Integrity, Respect, and Excellence.Strategic thinker, able to develop and execute a clear vision and strategy for Lennox’s EHS DepartmentBuilds and manages diverse relationships: open to differences; effective up, down, sideways; quick to find common ground; treat differences fairly and equitably; treat everyone as a customerTeam player, comfortable operating within a dynamic and complex organizational structure and leading through influenceProven success setting and meeting operations EHS goals, including safety, energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste, and water use reductionWell organized, resourceful, and planful; effective and efficient at organizing multiple resources to get things done; meets objectives with time and resource efficiencyManages multiple tasks simultaneously; anticipates and plans around obstaclesManages ambiguity when things are not certain or the way forward is not clearSituational adaptability: adapts in real time to match shifting demandsEducationBachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, EHS, or related field is required.
