Controls Designer (CAD)

SCS Engineers is looking for a Controls Specialist who will be working under the direction of the SCS RMC (Remote Monitoring Control) Project, Regional, or Business Manager to implement technology solutions for clients. RMC is a growing division for SCS and this is an exciting time to join this team! This position can be remote and will involve some travel.Design control panels and control systems using AutoCAD Electrical.Perform designs with supervision.Prepare layouts, details, and perform calculations.Assist in implementing technology solutions for our clients, sometimes in the field (typically landfill environment). These technology solutions include but are not limited to: SCADA systems and Control systems.Provide thorough documentation of your work.Coordinate field conditions with your work and ability to travel up to 25%.Complete field activities, many times working by yourself.From time to time, assist with:Commissioning and startup work for the systemsInstallation work for the systems.Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:Control systems:Designing control systems, preferably using AutoCAD Electrical.Installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting control panels, sensors, conduit, and wiring in the field (preferably outdoor locations).Ethernet networking and radios.PLC and HMI programming, preferably:Automation Direct Productivity and DL series PLCsAutomation Direct Cmore HMIsAllen-Bradley PLCs and HMIsHorner PLCs and HMIsMaple Systems HMIsControl system troubleshooting.SCADA systems:Inductive Automation’s Ignition softwareEthernet networking and radiosIndustrial automation communication protocols:EtherNet/IPModbus TCP/IPSCADA system troubleshootingPython programmingDatabase scripting and setupExperience designing controls systems required.Experience programming PLCs and HMIs preferred.Experience developing projects in Inductive Automation’s Perspective module preferred.Related experience including working on/with landfills preferred.Must meet physical requirements for driving (pick-up truck), walking inspection of improved and unimproved property, lifting and carrying equipment/mechanical components (up to 25 lbs. unassisted), carrying and climbing ladders, operating electric tools (drills, saws, etc.), using hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.) and providing services under varying weather conditions.Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.Learn more about the RMC team at SCS! $40.00 - USD $46.00 /Hr.Please note that our pay ranges are determined by several factors, including relevant experience, internal pay equity, and location.
