The AWS Facility Operations Center (FOC) team is seeking a Business Automation Engineer (BAE) to act as a strategic link between FOC business operations and technology teams by analyzing operational workflows through lean practices, orchestrating automation solutions, deploying artificial intelligence to solve business challenges, and driving process improvements. The role requires a results-oriented, data-driven mindset, coding/scripting skills, and familiarity with AI tools to support cross-functional collaboration within the Facility Operations Center environment. Key job responsibilities u2022 Analyze operational workflows using lean methodologies to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities. u2022 Develop and maintain process documentation (as-is and to-be states). u2022 Support digital transformation and operational excellence programs. u2022 Work backwards from business needs to build features and systems that directly impact our customers and improve efficiency. u2022 Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks (e.g., TamperMonkey, Python, VBA, Java) u2022 Collaborate with partner teams or use APIs for more advanced process automation u2022 Identify and apply use cases with AI tools and agents in operations u2022 Leverage existing scalable tech platforms and solutions to onboard FOC use cases u2022 Take full ownership of projects and deliverables with minimal supervision u2022 Champion the agile software development lifecycle including design reviews, code reviews, and operational support, while adhering to engineering best practices for the entire FOC organizationu2019s queue of business automation solutions. u2022 Communicate insights and progress clearly with different levels of stakeholders and leadership in various formats both written and verbal u2022 Act as liaison to external tech teams for collaboration and integration u2022 Collaborate with analytics, operational, and technical program management teams to evaluate, test, and implement improvement solutions About the team The Facility Operations Center (FOC) is the centralized 24/7 remote monitoring hub for AWS power, cooling, and fire life safety infrastructure. The FOC supports global availability by identifying and communicating immediate risks to infrastructure to Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) and DCC senior leadership. We support event response through call facilitation, vendor engagement, partner team escalations, and vending of real time data to reduce event recovery time. The FOC owns post event reporting and analysis for customer impacting and System Impaired Events (SIE), to trend and improve performance metrics across the global data center fleet. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
