POSITION LOCATED IN LOWELL AREA, NOT CAMBRIDGE! Summary:The Restoration Center Manager of Peer Services promotes engagement, hope and full integration andfunctioning of clients needed to live successfully in the community. Welcomes, orients, and engagesclients into services, collaborates with all departments of the Restoration Center Leadership teammembers to determine needed engagement. Helps clients explore their options and gain theconfidence, skills, and resources needed to succeed in goals. Provides orientation, training andsupervision to Peer Specialists and Recovery Coaches. Provides consultation, support and training to alland other team members supporting clients accessing Vinfen Behavioral Health (VBH) services. Serves asan expert and support to all components of the RC under the direction of the Executive Director of theRestoration Center.Job Duties and Responsibilities:• Joins with Medical team in Triage, SSU Living room and Respite to conduct welcome process, asrequested/indicated, or identifies Peer Specialists or Recovery Coaches to function in this capacity,focusing on welcoming, orienting, and engaging clients to support their understanding of services andsupports available• Participates in program development and provides consultation on program design, specifically relatedto engaging individuals at the Restoration Center entry points (e.g., the triage and medical clearancefunction) to ensure a welcoming and inclusive space.•Works with the client on Restoration Support Plan; goal setting for assessed needs and current stateand/or guides the work of their direct reports in these activities when ongoing peer support orengagement needs are identified.• Provides support, education, and advocacy to clients; especially at times of service and life transitions;for example: being discharged from a hospital, detoxification unit or respite setting, moving to their ownapartment, or when facing life stage challenges.• Uses and shares personal, practical experience of recovery process, wellness management, and thepersonal effort and commitment required for individuals to have a full and satisfying life in thecommunity.• Introduces and provides “warm hand off” for clients to other team members or levels of care withinthe RC or larger systems of care.• Maintains close contact with clients who struggle with initial or sustained engagement.• Engages clients in non-directive and supportive relationships that promote empowerment and self-learning and supports clients in voicing their needs and preferences to other members of their treatment team(s) as requested.• Promotes integration of physical and behavioral health care and acts in support of breaking down silosand systemic barriers to whole-health care.• Promotes engagement, safe housing, community tenure, achievement of greater self-sufficiency andsuccessful completion of service through direct intervention, as well as through connecting the clientwith other RC service components and/or supporting connection with other, non-Vinfen supporters andproviders.• Helps maximize choices available to clients as well as their self-determination, and participation anddecision-making in the planning and delivery and evaluation of their treatment, care coordination, andsupport services.• Facilitates and / or assigns staff to run Peer Support groups. Provides access to recovery tools andresources for clients.• Manages Timecards, Shift changes, and Scheduling for all Peer and Recovery Staff within theRestoration Center.• Connects clients with both psychiatric conditions and substance use disorder/addiction to self-helpand other community recovery groups (e.g., Dual Recovery Anonymous- DRA Groups).• Supports both Peer Specialists and Recovery Coaches in carrying out the tasks and activities withintheir purview, under the umbrella of RC services.• Completes documentation in accordance with Certified Peer Specialist training standards.• Assists clients in linking to other community services and building recovery and support networksoutside the service system - both actual and electronic, including services and networks for people withco-occurring disorders for mutual help and recovery support groups.• Provides on-going problem solving, skill training, and side-by-side support to help clients improve theirdaily living skills and abilities. Models effective coping techniques and self-help strategies for clients.• Teaches, consults, and directs Peer and Recovery staff in the RC with Multidisciplinary Team membersto ensure recovery values, language, and culture are promoted and upheld.• Leads by example in using Human Experience language and provides support and education toRestoration Center staff in understanding impact of language in the context of power dynamics andsystems of care.Knowledge and Skills:• Willing to use and share their personal, practical experience of recovery process, wellnessmanagement, and the personal effort and commitment required for clients to have a full and satisfyinglife in the community.• Strong commitments to the right and ability of clients to live, work, have meaningful relationships, andreceive the resources and supports needed in their community of choice.• Knowledge of Peer Support practices and ethical standards.• Knowledge of Recovery Coaching ethical standards.• Commitment to the principles of harm reduction and to honoring multiple pathways to recovery.• Knowledge of person-centered, strengths-based, recovery-oriented values, principles and modalities.• Ability to create and maintain supportive, trusting relationships with clients in the RC.• Commitment to maintain confidentiality.• Knowledge of engagement and participatory planning techniques.• Sensitivity to the cultural, religious, ethnic, disability, and gender differences of clients.• Knowledge and use of advocacy techniques.• Knowledge of participatory planning techniques.• Respect for and knowledge of legal, civil, and human rights of clients.• Knowledge of community and other resources.• Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.• Ability to promote psychiatric advance directives and relapse prevention techniques.• Ability to balance competing priorities.• Ability to make independent judgments and decisions.• Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipmentWhy Vinfen? While a formal mental health diagnosis is not required, yourinvolvement with mental health services must be related to your experience with mental health,emotional health and/or trauma resulting in significant life disruption.• Certified Peer Specialist credential strongly preferred. Must become a Certified Peer Specialist withinone year of hire.• Certified Addiction Recovery Coach credential preferred. Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's licensefor at least one year, and must be able to pass a driver's screening background check.Physical Effort:Direct Care Roles - Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb as this is a very physicallyactive position. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or the use of a two-person lift. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator, copier, and printer. Ability to sit, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver through narrow spaces or hallways.Ability to assist clients with tasks of daily living. Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. For positions in day programs or group residences, the ability to assist in routine living activities including cleaning, meal preparation, vacuuming, shoveling, and grocery shopping.Required Certifications/Trainings:CPR within 2 weeks of hire, First Aid within 2 weeks of hire, must complete EOHHS approved training onSupervision of Recovery Coaches within one year of hire.Required Credentials/Licenses:Must become Certified Peer Specialist within one year of hireUSD $87,500.00 - USD $87,500.00 /Yr.
