Serco is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join an established but growing team in Newport, RI working at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center that is designing, constructing, and delivering the next generation of undersea warfare Training Systems to the Fleet. Your focus will be on designing, implementing, testing, and delivering components of the sonar simulation system that is part of the NUWC Navigation Training Suite.In this position, you will:Be part of the Kanban team that is responsiblefor developing and delivering the Submarine Bridge Trainer to the Navy.Specifically: Design, develop, and test components of the Submarine Bridge Trainer with a focus on the sonar simulation componentsAssist in integrating, testing, and installing the Submarine Bridge Trainer.Meet your Recruiter:To be Successful in this role, you will have:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar fieldAn Active Secret ClearanceUS Citizenship15 years of software experienceOR Master’s Degree with 10 years of experienceExpertise with object-oriented programming Proficiency with C++ and Java.Ability to perform advanced tasks in a RHEL/CentOS Linux environment.Understanding of the software development lifecycle.Working knowledge of git.Ability to work on site Newport, Rhode IslandAdditional desired experience and skills:Firm grasp of underwater acoustics principlesFamiliarity with Oceanographic and Atmospheric Master Library (OAML) databasesProficiency working in RHEL/CentOS Linux environmentsExperience using Comprehensive. Acoustic Simulation System (CASS) using the Gaussian.
