This position plays a critical role and involves working on high-profile cases. We are looking for candidates who are able to work in an office setting. Paralegal duties focus on litigation support and preparation for upcoming trials. In this role, you will work collaboratively with teams of DOJ attorneys to handle a wide variety of litigation support tasks ranging from preparing and filing documents with courts and conducting factual and legal research to more complex tasks such as assisting in witness interviews and depositions and providing in-courtroom assistance. Please apply to learn more Responsibilities: The Paralegal works under the direction of the Supervisory Paralegal. In this role, you will perform litigation support services while complying with established procedures, including but not limited to the following: + Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents. + Summarizes depositions and other transcripts. + Maintains case files. + Indexes, tracks and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery). + Indexes and tracks exhibits and other material at depositions and at trial. + Prepares exhibit cross-references. + Assists attorneys in courtroom. + Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria. + Performs simple legal research. + Assists with database searches. + Works in an office setting. Qualifications: _Required:_ u2022 Requires a paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. u2022 At least 1 year of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience very helpful including 1 year of experience in automated litigation support u2022 Sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. u2022 Excellent written and oral communication skills. u2022 Knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. u2022 Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) u2022 DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required). _Desired:_ u2022 Document review experience. u2022 Experience using Relativity software. u2022 Trial Experience helpful.
