Job Description

Position Title: Site Safety OfficerSummary: The SSHO is responsible for ensuring working conditions compliance with local and corporate occupational safety and health regulations and procedures. Responsibilities may include inspecting machinery, equipment, and other working conditions in project sites. Observes workers to determine use of prescribed and proper safety equipment, such as glasses, helmets, respirators, fall protection and clothing. Addresses EHS issues as guided by supervision. This level assists on project or contract as assistant in the field or office.Reports to: Safety Corporate ManagerDutiesResponsibilities:Directs and administers specific functions of the EHS program at the company or project levelCreates, evaluates, educates, and administers the EHS program for all levels of employeesAssistconducts surveys, evaluations, inspections, and investigations of incidents and activities as directed by supervisionGathers information and correlates data as directedAble to perform field training when neededRefines working knowledge of EHS programs by applying EHS proceduresDevelop and maintain project safety filesDirect and supervise the activities of subordinates when requested to do soParticipates in monitoring and controlling EHS standardsPrepares, maintains, and retrieves records, reports, or documents that may be required to meet corporate or regulatory requirements, including monitoring application of EHS standardsPromotes EHS awareness and fosters this awareness throughout the company, project, or officePerforms other duties as assignedQualifications:Computer knowledge and efficiency, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office productsUnderstanding of construction and general industryGood understanding of Pre Task PlanningStrong written and verbal communication skills in EnglishBasic mathstatistic accounting skillsFunctions effectively as part of a teamAccountableDependabilityAbility to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all timesExcellent decision-makingproblem-solving skillsLicensed Site Safety Manager or Site Safety CoordinatorHolder of an OSHA 30 hour certificateHolder of CHST CertificationFive (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising managing general construction (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls)Notice to prospective employees:There have been fraudulent postings and emails regarding job openings.
