Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Oriskany, New York. This Contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic insurance industry environment while honing your expertise in financial management and accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in handling general ledger activities, reconciliations, and both accounts payable and receivable functions. Responsibilities: u2022 Oversee the management of financial operations for three subsidiary companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance. u2022 Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts and other financial statements. u2022 Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including timely payments and collections. u2022 Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and properly categorized. u2022 Prepare and post journal entries to support month-end and year-end close procedures. u2022 Collaborate on month-end closing activities to ensure financial reporting deadlines are met. u2022 Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP to streamline financial processes. u2022 Monitor and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions. u2022 Support audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with regulations. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field. u2022 Associateu2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; Bacheloru2019s degree preferred. u2022 Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. u2022 Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entries. u2022 Experience with bank reconciliations and month-end closing procedures. u2022 Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP. u2022 Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. u2022 Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
