Software Engineer

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s C3I and Infrastructure Division (AFLCMC/HNI) at Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA. HNI delivers enterprise support to over 110 active Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve installations and bases, providing technical and policy support, as well as C3I infrastructure for USAF enterprise applications.In this role, you will apply a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of software engineering to design, develop, test, and implement software solutions. You will support all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), contributing to the planning, requirements, design, verification and validation (V&V), and sustainment of mission-critical systems, while working in collaboration with government and industry partners.In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.Duties include, but not limited to:Review, prepare, and analyze documentation, requirements, design, and test materials.Evaluate operational feasibility by analyzing problem definitions, requirements, and potential solutions.Develop software solutions through documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and well-structured code.Design and install solutions by determining system specifications, standards, and programming.Conduct systems analysis to recommend improvements in policies, processes, and procedures.Obtain and manage software licensing, including vendor engagement, testing, and approval of products.Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.Develop solutions by studying user needs, systems flow, data usage, and work processes, following the software development life cycle.Plan and/or implement Agile acquisition and software development techniques.Plan and/or implement DevOps processes and techniques for cloud and non-cloud applications.Citizenship: Must be a US citizenMinimum Required QualificationsClearance: Active Secret clearanceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience (3 within DoD) OR 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications (5 within DoD)Preferred QualificationsEducation: Master’s degree in a related fieldTechnical SkillsProficiency in one or more programming languages (C++, Java, Python, etc.)Familiarity with software development tools, repositories, and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins)Experience with Agile development, DevOps processes, and cloud platformsStrong understanding of SDLC, V&V, and systems analysis practicesInterpersonal SkillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAdaptability to evolving mission and technical requirementsAdditional InformationLocation: Hanscom AFBTravel: Occasional travel may be requiredOnsite#LI-RB1Odyssey Systemsis a world-class technical, engineering, and integration company serving the warfighting ecosystem with airborne integration, ISR, C2, and warfighter readiness capabilities.
