Riggers will eventually become trained and qualified to operate overhead cranes and forklifts along with types of handling gearThis position requires the use of hand signals to communicate with mobile crane operators to ensure all lifting and handling functions are completed properly and safelyThis position also requires work to be performed on ships, barges as well as indoors and outdoorsCandidates will be required to work at heights, confined spaces, inclement weather and support extended hours and overtime as business needs dictateThis position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.Required:High school diploma/GED OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience Experience in rigging/lifting & handlingValid drivers' licenseAvailable to work all shifts and to support overtime as neededAbility to work at heights, in confined spaces and in extreme temperature conditions as requiredAbility to read, interpret, and work from policies and proceduresIndividuals are required to possess their own basic hand toolsPreferred:Rigging or related lifting & handling experience or trainingCDL licenseExperience in Mobile Crane and/or overhead crane operationExperience operating CrawlerCraneVocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programsUnderstanding of basic crane hand signalsExperience working in the construction environmentAbility to read, interpret, and work from blueprintsMilitary/Navy experienceStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong written communication skills for documentation andreporting purposesClimbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, TwistingAcids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet
