Job DescriptionThe Principal Engineer Senior Expert owns technical product strategy for multiple Allstate Health AOR tightly coupled with consumer journeys ensuring The Principal Engineer Senior Expert owns technical product strategy for multiple Allstate Health AOR tightly coupled with consumer journeys ensuring technical product roadmaps align with over-arching customer journeys strategy in partnership with Principal Digital Product Managers and Principal Platform Consultant.Key ResponsibilitiesEstablishes technical strategy for AOR in partnership with Principal Digital Product Manager and Principal Platform ConsultantServes as the anchor of the team and practices technical leadership; helping guide the team in choosing the right technology, solving technical problems, and resolving any technical conflicts within the teamCoaches the team and leads daily practices of using paired programming and test-driven development in writing software and building productsInfuses a strong bias for action and speed to market on a consistent basisLifts impediments and distractionsInfluences backlogs outside of their applicable AOR in support of their digital products' prioritiesLeads and participates in inceptions and iteration planning meetings, infusing backlogs with technical input working in close partnership with the product managerOwns and drives company priorities needing or expecting technical delivery across AORsLeads and participates in daily site, cross-site, and product team standupsDrives delivery acceleration through reuse of capabilities and smarter, simpler ways to achieve outcomesOwns decision to technical approach including deviations from the enterprise standards where needed, but leverages refactoring to align to patterns and standardsOwns upgrading engineering standards and talent in partnership with other Principal EngineersEstablishes continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practicesLeads, creates, and executes a strong succession plan for Lead and Managing EngineersEssential Requirements & Skills10+ years of Product Management experience (preferred).5+ years in Technical Product Strategy or Product Architecture(preferred).3+ years managing teams of 3u20135 direct reports within organizations of 50+ engineers (preferred).Proven ability to coach Lead and Managing Engineers, including succession planning.Demonstrated success partnering with C-suite and senior executives.Experience leading multiple operating units or AORs with enterprise-wide technology strategies.Strong decision-making skills in technical approaches; able to manage deviations from enterprise standards and drive refactoring initiatives.Background in architecting or leading SaaS platform development and commercialization.Hands-on leadership in CI/CD, test-driven development, and paired programming.Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for innovation and growth.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position will have supervisory responsibilities.SkillsBacklogs, Conducting Standups, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment, Continuous Integrations, Decision Making, Digital Products, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Leadership, Pair Programming, Product Architecture, Product Management, Product Roadmap, Product Strategies, Strategic Management, Taking Initiative, Technical Delivery, Technical Leadership, Technical Strategy, Technology StrategiesCompensationCompensation offered for this role is $141,800.00 - 219,200.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.Joining our team isn't just a job u2014 it's an opportunity.
