We are seeking an experienced and detail-orientedFire Alarm System Designerto join our team. This role is focused on the end-to-end design of code-compliant and technically soundfire alarm systemsfor commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will hold a currentTexas Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS)license and have aminimum NICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems.This position plays a key role in project delivery—from system layout to permitting—and includes managing external design subcontractors. While the core focus is on fire alarm design, experience withsecurity systems(CCTV, access control, intrusion) is aplus.Design complete fire alarm systems, including layout drawings, risers, wiring schematics, and equipment schedulesProduce accurate and code-compliant CAD drawings and documentation for submittals and permittingEnsure compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, local codes, and project specificationsPrepare and coordinate full submittal packages for review by clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)Review and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to develop complete fire alarm designsCollaborate with internal teams (sales, project management, technicians) to ensure design intent and installation alignmentAct as a liaison with AHJs during permitting and inspection processesManage and coordinate work of external design subcontractorsto ensure quality, timeliness, and code complianceStay up to date on industry best practices, technologies, and evolving code requirementsBonus Responsibilities (Preferred, Not Required):Assist with estimating fire alarm systems and budget developmentProvide conceptual designs for integrated security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection)Coordinate security system scope with internal teams or subcontractorsRequired Qualifications:Valid Texas Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS) licenseNICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems(required)Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in fire alarm system designAdvanced proficiency inAutoCAD(Revit and Bluebeam experience a plus)Strong working knowledge ofNFPA 72,NEC,IFC, and local codesExperience developing submittals, riser diagrams, and system calculationsDemonstrated ability to manage external design subcontractors or drafting resourcesExcellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skillsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field preferredPreferred (Bonus) Qualifications:Experience designing or estimating electronic security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion)Familiarity with integrated life safety and low-voltage systemsKnowledge of estimating tools and value engineering methodsYou’ll Benefit from:Unlimited Growth Opportunity:With a constantly expanding range of products and vertical markets, we consistently experience double-digit growth, creating new avenues for advancement and promotion within our company.Comprehensive Benefits Package: Our benefits package is here to support you and your well-being.
