We’re currently looking for a senior-level Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Team Lead and Technical Advisor to support the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) program.This is more than just logistics—it’s mission support at its core. You will lead a talented team in the creation of electronic technical documentation for submarine combat systems, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance across all ILS deliverables. Your efforts will directly impact fleet readiness, system maintainability, and the performance of some of the U.S. Navy’s most advanced undersea platforms.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Lead and manage the development of technical manuals, installation guides, system notes, and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)Provide mentorship and direction to a team of technical writers and logistics analystsParticipate in engineering design reviews, feature demos, and technical interchange meetings (TIMs)Review and validate technical content to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability across documentation setsTranslate complex engineering designs and system functions into operator- and maintainer-friendly documentationCollaborate with engineers, software developers, system integrators, and Navy stakeholders to gather technical dataDevelop maintenance procedures, troubleshooting documentation, configuration guides, and training support materialsSupport Navy system testing and validation events (lab and shipboard), including documentation updates based on test outcomesRepresent the ILS team during Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), documentation reviews, and program status updatesDrive improvements in documentation practices, compliance with standards, and user experienceSome travel may be required for shipboard or lab test events.What you’ll experience:Leadership in a high-impact logistics and documentation team supporting mission-critical submarine systemsHands-on exposure to the AN/BYG-1 combat system and related SWFTS subsystemsOpportunities to directly influence system design and lifecycle support strategyWork alongside Navy operators, system maintainers, and top engineers shaping the future of undersea warfareFlexible 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off)Collaborative, high-integrity work culture with a shared missionManassas, VA on-site facility—home to world-class undersea warfare system developmentTechnologies that aren’t just top-notch, they’re often top-secret A team of bold thinkers committed to exploring what’s next Opportunities to gain new knowledge - as it’s discovered What you bring to the table:Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Management or Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.Fully proficient knowledge of ILS elements and Acquisition Logistics principlesExperience with IETMs, technical manual development, and documentation in accordance with DoD standards (MIL-STD-3001, 38784, 24784, 40051-2C)Operational familiarity with SWFTS, CIS, or CCE componentsStrong grasp of Navy maintenance procedures and philosophies, especially for combat systemsExperience working within Navy logistics systems such as CDMD-OA, TDMIS, or SCLSISExcellent technical communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), XML authoring tools (XMLSpy) or similar, and diagramming in VisioComfortable interpreting schematics, interface documentation, and system configuration artifactsWhat sets you apart:Former U.S. Navy Fire Control Technician (FT) or SONAR Technician with experience on Virginia, Seawolf, Ohio, or 688-class submarinesPrior experience working with BYG-1, SWFTS, CIS, or CCE systemsStrong leadership skills and a track record of managing priorities under tight deadlinesExperience developing content in HTML, XML, PDF, and/or S1000D-compliant formatsBackground in Navy training development or instructional designHands-on involvement in Navy test events, shipboard troubleshooting, or operational evaluationsRecognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a relevant domain (e.g., combat systems integration, technical writing, or maintenance planning)Proven conflict management skillsSubject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing fully proficient knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields Strong leadership skills consistent with a team-based work environmentThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
