Security Specialist

We are seeking a Security Specialist for our client’s operational requirements on a mission focused program within a challenging, dynamic setting located in Bethesda, MD. Successful candidates in this position will have the ability to communicate with executive leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of significant importance to the organization/project. The Security Specialist will work to convince others to accept areas view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.Responsibilities include: Develop, implement, and maintain security programs. Tasks may include but are not limited to: Process CAP/SAP requests from the IC and DOD, brief Control Officers, maintain program records and files, update SOP and briefings accordingly, and act a liaison between PMO and CAP/SAP teamProvide recommendations on personnel security policies, standards, and proceduresDraft requirements and implementation guidanceAssess security programs to identify and recommend ways to address gapsPrepare for security working groups and interagency forums and provide event coordinationConduct government or contractor developed training classes or learning materials and conduct technical or administrative briefing of government or contractor personnelDevelop security program SOPs as requiredPrepare staff and sites for government security auditsConduct security reviews of acquisition packagesConduct security reviews and update document classificationsConduct security briefingsProcess 4311 documents and support visitor requestsBasic Qualifications:Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.Requires a BA degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.Demonstrated experience with required SAP, CAP, and SCI security procedures.Demonstrated experience with information, industry, and personnel security principles and practices.Demonstrated experience in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements.Demonstrated ability to apply wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to resolve problems and develop guidance documentation across a variety of circumstances and environments.Minimum 5 years working with or in the IC.Peraton offers enhanced benefits to employees working on this critical National Security program, which include heavily subsidized employee benefits coverage for you and your dependents, 25 days of PTO accrued annually up to a generous PTO cap and eligible to participate in an attractive bonus plan.Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
