JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides nurse/clinician with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythm. Monitors heart rhythm patterns to detect, record, and report normal/abnormal heart patterns, normal/abnormal ECG interval measurements and proper/improper pacemaker or implantable defibrillator function utilizing telemetry equipment.SHIFT & SCHEDULEFulltime, Nights, 7:00pm-7:00amESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS· Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns and priorvariances.· Observes cardiac monitor and notifies the nursing and/or medical staff of any abnormalheart rhythm variances.· Manages telemetry equipment and supplies.· Must successfully complete a competency examination as defined by departmentcompetency requirements for Telemetry Monitor Technicians.· Obtain certification as a monitor technician by an approved organization to be designatedMT II. Certification is the Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) certification.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:· High school diploma or equivalent· Associates degree or higher preferred· Knowledge of medical terminology preferred· Monitor Tech II: national certification in telemetry requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.
