Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Carlsbad, California. This is a Contract-to-permanent position offering an excellent opportunity to grow within the organization, with the potential to advance to senior roles over time. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting within a manufacturing environment and will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice matching, deposit handling, and account coding. u2022 Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring entries and accruals, ensuring accuracy and compliance. u2022 Conduct account reconciliations, including credit card reconciliations and downloading transactions from Chase. u2022 Perform month-end closing activities, including adjusting entries and preparing financial reports. u2022 Coordinate check runs, wire transfers, and other payment activities in collaboration with the controller. u2022 Collaborate with customer service to handle returns and ensure proper processing of 1099 forms. u2022 Generate and maintain reports to support accounting and finance functions. u2022 Utilize Sage 100 ERP software and intermediate Excel skills to manage and analyze data effectively. u2022 Apply payments to dealer accounts while properly coding for commissions. u2022 Support the preparation of financial statements and assist with broader finance functions as needed. Requirements u2022 A minimum of 2 years of experience in staff accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment. u2022 Proficiency in Sage 100 ERP software and intermediate-level Excel skills, including formulas, pivots, and VLOOKUPs. u2022 Solid understanding of general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close activities. u2022 Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including high-volume invoice handling. u2022 Knowledge of sales tax and return merchandise authorization (RMA) procedures. u2022 Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail. u2022 Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams. u2022 Ability to work onsite initially, transitioning to a hybrid schedule upon becoming a regular employee.
