Sensing Hardware Design and Integration Electrical Engineering Manager Cupertino, California, United States Hardware Summary Posted: Jul 28, 2025 Role Number: 200518217-0836 Imagine shaping the future of how people interact with technology. As a leader of our Sensing Systems team, you'll design, develop, and launch the next generation of Touch ID sensors, integral to the security and seamless user experience of Apple's iconic products. You'll bring devices to life, enabling them to understand and respond to their users in ways previously unimagined. Description Join the Touch ID team and play a pivotal role in leading the development of cutting-edge fingerprint biometric sensors. You'll be engaged in the entire sensor development lifecycle, from concept to mass production.You will be applying your expertise in analog and digital circuit design to design sensing modules and evaluate coexistence, electrical performance and product integration.Who You Are:A proactive electrical engineering leader with a passion for solving complex technical challenges and building and developing high performing engineering teams. You have a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and decisions through complex technical issues.You are a strategic thinker with a strong foundation of analog circuit fundamentals and a proven track record of taking electrical designs into mass production. You're a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and a drive to push the boundaries of innovation. You have experience representing your team's work in high-stakes forums, shaping technical strategy through persuasive communication, and mentoring others in presenting their work effectively. Responsibilities + Lead the TouchID electrical engineering team in the design, development, and integration of TouchID sensors for Apple products from concept to high-volume mass production + Navigate complex cross-functional dependencies, building strong relationships with silicon, algorithms, mechanical design, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product integration. + Lead multi-disciplinary teams in assessing technical risk, solving technical issues and defining strategy and convergence plans to meet product requirements. + Present technical strategy and program issue status to senior leadership on a regular basis. + Mentor and lead a team of engineers, guiding them through the process of schematic capture, PCB design, characterization, validation, and failure analysis + Lead the electrical engineer team in performing coexistence, signal and power integrity, and electrical integration assessments. Minimum Qualifications + Leadership experience managing engineers and cross-functional teams. + Proven ability to present complex technical topics clearly and concisely, influencing decisions and securing buy-in from senior leadership. + Strong EE analog fundamentals with demonstrated experience in all phases of circuit design and development. + Experience deep diving into complex technical challenges, identifying root cause hypothesis and solutions in a cross-functional and constrained environment + Experience creating engineering design, requirement, and specification documents. Preferred Qualifications + 5+ years of lead or management experience + Experience with development process from early architecture through mass production. + Experience with sensing or biometric system development + Cadence experience a plus. + Proficiency with test equipment (oscilloscope, meters, etc.) and circuit simulation (SPICE). + Proficiency in MATLAB and Python scripting tools. + Experience with statistical analysis of production data (JMP, Tableau). + Experience in FEA, simulation, and modeling tools (Comsol, ANSYS, Maxwell). + Experience with high-volume mass production. Education & Experience MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience. PhD preferred. Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $298,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
