Clinical Educator - Full Time Day

POSITION SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Director of Education, the Clinical Educator will perform the functions of an educator, facilitator, change agent, leader, consultant and researcher in area of expertise. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of education programs for all staff. Develops and implements staff development and continuing education programs.The Clinical Educator will be responsible for working an on-site schedule with a minimum of 4 days/week that may include weekends.JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESEvery effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.Conduct formal and informal needs assessment.Develop, implement and deliver clinical education programs based on identified needs and best practices. This may include creating training materials, delivering lectures, and conducting workshops. Evaluate and report the outcome of educational activities.Coordinate and facilitate Department of Nursing Orientation.Track and maintain records of orientation and continuing education programs as per departmental policy.Provide instruction and remedial education to staff.Assist in the development of educational calendar.Design performance checklists.Perform and document nursing department clinical competency checks.Strengthens a culture of evidence-based clinical practice, clinical inquiry and quality improvement.Designs and implements educational lesson plans; evaluation plans for programs and projects.Evaluate, report and keep malicious records of all educational activities and programs per departmental policyDemonstrates effective oral written communication; uses effective interpersonal skills; fosters critical thinking; links nurses to professional development and other relevant resources.Demonstrates proficiency in the use of technology such as Microsoft office software and various audio-visual equipment. Utilize all software in the development of educational materials.Serve as clinical resource to all staff members, residents and families.Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.Education Requirements:BSN Degree required; MSN in Nurse Education or Informatics preferred NYS RN License and Registration CertificateCPR and PALS Provider requiredMedical-Surgical or Pediatric nurse with minimum of two (2) years clinical experience. Experience in pediatric and/or adolescent chronic/rehabilitation care preferred.Previous experience in facilitating education programs in a clinical settingDemonstrated ability to design and interpret a needs assessment to identify and plan educational programDemonstrated ability to develop and execute a lesson plan, prepare test items and summarize program assessment. Must be able to write behavioral objectivesMust be able to present a class or program using any various teaching methods.Must be able to design a performance checklist, evaluate clinical performance, and document performance problemsDemonstrated ability to operate, and maintain education equipment, including demonstration modelsMust be able to monitor quality assurance activities and maintain accurate recordsEmployee Requirements:Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.Working Conditions:Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.Will be subject to frequent interruptions.May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.Salary Range:$115,000.00/Yr. To $125,000.00/Yr.
