The Director of Osteopathic Education has additional responsibilities to ensure that all residents that desire and qualify for participation on the Osteopathic Recognition Track have an appropriate educational experience. The successful candidate will have the requisite osteopathic expertise and possess strong clinical and teaching skills, and will work collaboratively with the program director, residents, and other faculty members to provide a comprehensive educational experience for our residents. This position reports to the Program Director.Essential Duties:PATIENT CAREProvide evidence based, cost-effective, high-quality care for patientsParticipate in and lead quality improvement activities that include an emphasis on reducing health disparitiesKeep up all licenses and board certifications as requiredComplete all clinical charting in a timely fashionCoordinate and lead interprofessional, team-based care with respect and compassionActively work toward improving the health of the community through understanding local needs and disparitiesEDUCATIONAL THEORY AND PRACTICEDevelopment and implementation of Osteopathic Practices and Principles curriculumTeach and train resident physicians, medical students, and other learners (when applicable) in the theory, science, and identity of Family Medicine within systems of health careEngage in and role-model lifelong learning practices and intellectual curiosityEpitomize professionalism in teaching, clinical care, leadership, and advocacyProvide didactic lectures for the residency program as directed by the Program Director or designee that include relevant information on health disparitiesServe as a mentor and advisor for the residentsParticipate and lead in scholarly activity driven by interest and as directed by the program directorDeliver and provide an engaging learning curriculum and environmentDevelop, utilize and contribute to competency-based curriculum that incorporates learning objectives specific to DEIActively participate in and facilitates faculty development activitiesEvaluate Family Medicine residents and medical students (when relevant) in a timely manner using competency based/milestone evaluations and via direct observation and other relevant evaluation methods. Special attention will be made to evaluate Osteopathic Principles and PracticeCoordinate and update relevant didactics sessions as well as assigned rotation or longitudinal curriculumSupervise Family Medicine Residents QA/QI and research activities as required/appropriateEngage in Osteopathic professional developmentAttends didactics when not scheduled for patient care or covering the inpatient serviceProvides at least 4 didactic sessions annuallySeek feedback on own performance and work to use feedback to improve performanceProvide feedback in a respectful and behavior focused mannerWork with the faculty team to develop, implement, and evaluate performance improvement and remediation plans for learnersADMINISTRATIVEAdminister and maintain an environment conducive to osteopathic educationReview and approve faculty and residents to participate on the Osteopathic Recognition TrackServe on committees at the hospital or clinic to enhance medical education, patient care, or quality improvement at those facilitiesMaintain accountability for monitoring resident work hours, paying close attention to signs of Fatigue and Sleep Deprivation in individualsActively participate in faculty meetings, CCC meetings, PEC meetings, as well as any GMEC meetings as directed by the program directorParticipate in program evaluation and developing plans for improvement as well as actively engage in implementing relevant action items to ensure programmatic successWELL-BEINGRecognize the importance of personal well-being and work to maintain personal and professional well-beingServe as a role model for residents and staff in all facets of workReflective practice with a commitment to personal growthWork to recognize and mitigate biasEducation and Experience:DO or MD degree from an accredited medical schoolBoard certification in Family MedicineCertification through the AOA or qualifications judged acceptable by the ACGME Osteopathic Recognition CommitteeEligibility for an unrestricted medical license in MaineTwo years of experience as a practicing family physician, with prior teaching experience preferredStrong clinical skills in family medicine, including outpatient and inpatient careExcellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsCommitment to the education and development of future family medicine physiciansAbility to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including residents, faculty members, staff, and patientsExperience with electronic medical record systems and other clinical technologiesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to engage patients and team members utilizing the CMH Experience StandardsI am creating a warming, caring, and non-judgmental environmentI am actively listening and seeking informationI am honest, truthful, and consistentI am respectful, treating all individuals with dignity and empathyI am serving as a role model, taking both initiative and ownership when appropriateI am working collaboratively and demonstrating teamworkI am resilient and adapt to change in positive ways.Full TimeDaysCMH actively promotes diversity in its workforce at all levels of the organization.
