Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and ensure accuracy in reporting for our organization. Based in Brooklyn, New York, this role involves managing payroll, supervising accounting staff, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and external regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in non-profit accounting, payroll systems, and financial analysis. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage general ledger activities, including account reconciliations and month-end closing procedures. u2022 Supervise Accounts Payable and Purchasing staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of payments and purchases. u2022 Oversee preparation for external audits and ensure financial records are maintained with precision. u2022 Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to produce financial analyses and reports for board meetings and oversight agencies. u2022 Partner with the CFO and Grants Administrator to track, manage, and report grant-related financial requirements. u2022 Develop and monitor budgets, providing variance analysis and recommendations for improvements. u2022 Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and compliance standards. u2022 Process payroll for over 200 employees, including calculating wages, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions. u2022 Coordinate with HR to address changes in employee compensation, benefits, and payroll onboarding. u2022 Identify opportunities to enhance accounting and payroll systems for increased efficiency. Requirements u2022 Proven experience with month-end close procedures and account reconciliations. u2022 Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and journal entry preparation. u2022 Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices and grant management. u2022 Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP and Paychex, including payroll cycle management. u2022 Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage accounting staff effectively. u2022 Excellent analytical skills for budget preparation and variance reporting. u2022 Strong understanding of internal financial controls and compliance requirements. u2022 Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
