Job Description

Responsibilities + Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all assigned areas, including hallways, stairwells, offices, and common spaces. + Clean and disinfect restrooms, ensuring supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper) are adequately stocked. + Wipe down surfaces, including desks, countertops, windows, and mirrors. + Empty trash and recycling bins, replacing liners as needed. + Remove and dispose of waste according to facility guidelines. + Monitor and report any maintenance issues such as leaks, broken equipment, or facility damage. + Perform basic repair tasks such as replacing light bulbs and minor fixture repairs. + Ensure cleaning equipment and tools are properly maintained and stored after use. + Follow proper cleaning protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. + Use appropriate cleaning products, equipment, and protective gear. + Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any hazards to supervisors. + Assist with deep cleaning tasks, such as carpet cleaning, floor waxing, and window washing. + Support special event setup and breakdown, including moving furniture or equipment. + Participate in seasonal cleaning tasks as required (e.g., snow removal from entrances). Qualifications + High school diploma or GED preferred. + Prior experience in janitorial or custodial work is beneficial but not required. + Ability to operate cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and vacuums. + Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and safety practices. + Good physical stamina and ability to lift/move objects up to 50 lbs. + Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. + Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. + Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, supervisors, and facility occupants. + Ability to follow instructions and maintain a positive, professional attitude Job LocationsUS-NY-Long Island City Job ID 2024-13303 Category Maintenance Compensation Salary is $16.75/HR Type Regular Part-Time
