This position is remote.Position Summary:The Senior IP Search Engineer serves as a strategic technical expert providing complex intellectual property search solutions and advisory services to external customers. Leverages specialized knowledge and creativity to analyze multifaceted scientific and technical data from diverse electronic sources, catalogs, inventories, chemical libraries, and customer requirements to deliver comprehensive patent intelligence. Functions as a senior resource and thought leader for technical, policy, and procedural matters related to sophisticated search project evaluation, customer consultation, and execution of advanced prior-art, patentability, freedom-to-operate, and competitive intelligence searches. Drives the intellectual leadership for CAS Search Service projects and enhanced patent searching services in chemistry and related sciences, serving Chemical, BioTech, Pharmaceutical Companies and IP Law firms through innovative structure, literature, and sequence search methodologies.Position Accountabilities:Serve as the authoritative consultant on complex technical, policy, and procedural matters, influencing customer project strategies and internal best practices for advanced search methodologiesAnalyze and synthesize complex scientific and technical data from multiple electronic sources, applying specialized knowledge to identify patterns, gaps, and strategic insights for prior-art, patentability, and competitive intelligence searchesInvestigate and resolve sophisticated business intelligence challenges by evaluating competitive environments, recommending new products, and driving process improvements that impact departmental outcomesEstablish trusted advisor relationships with internal and external customers, including senior information professionals and patent attorneys, influencing critical IP strategy decisionsProvides coaching, mentoring, and guidance to work team members while coordinating cross-functional activities and serving as liaison between departmentsExercise independent judgment in setting priorities, evaluating results, and waiving established procedures when warranted to achieve optimal customer outcomesDevelop and implement advanced computer tools and search techniques to ensure effective, high-quality searches that set industry standardsCreate innovative solutions to complex technical challenges, demonstrating creativity and ingenuity while influencing organizational practices through strategic recommendationsManage high-stakes customer relationships, ensuring discretion and confidentiality while delivering expert consultation on complex search strategiesPerform other duties as required.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Life Science, or related science (Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering); Advanced Degree preferred (M.S., MLS, PhD);Minimum 7-10 years of demonstrated specialized, comprehensive experience with STN, MARPAT and/or chemical, biological sequence searchingExtensive experience with both free and commercial database searching platformsAdvanced level proficiency with STN and comprehensive familiarity with CAS products, services, and databasesSpecialized knowledge of computer tools, search techniques, and electronic data processi
