ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponds to customers on non-conformance and quality mattersOversees process improvements related to qualityEnsures product conformanceReviews documents for conformanceConducts product inspectionsMaintains quality performance metricsAssists with management of nonconformance'sConducts supplier assessments and reviewsMaintains calibration systemSupports sales department with technical needs and customer servicesPerforms customer regulatory activitiesEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSFour-year college degree, preferably in metallurgy or quality engineering, with experience in manufacturing or metals distribution quality, or equivalent combination of education and experienceKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge of steel products and processesKnowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management SystemsUnderstanding of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing toolsStrong analytical aptitude and reporting skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task with an emphasis on event managementGoal-oriented and the ability to manage multiple projects paying particular attention to detail.Ability to work with a variety of teams (including the shop floor, sales and purchasing)SUPPORTAssist with customer quality system requests and approvalsAssist with the quality orientation for new employeesSupport sales with certification and compliance requestsSupport operations and production with order and material technical needsSPECIFICATIONSMaintain AMSUPM specification spreadsheet used to verify the compliance of mill test reportsPerform periodic specification revision check for updatesEQUIPMENTOversee the inspection and measuring of test equipment-Maintain identification of the testing equipment and documentation providing traceability and calibration frequencySUPPLIERSInitiate and maintain the ongoing assessment and approval of subcontractorsPerform periodic audits of suppliers and subcontractorsCUSTOMER AND REGULATORY SPECIFIC ACTIVITIESOversees and coordinates Pratt & WhitneyGE management of testing using outside approved resourceResponsible for administration of Unison and GE supplier release programAssist as needed with compliance auditsMaintain Pratt and Whitney LCS approval and certificationFill out and respond to customer survey requestsMaintain all functions as the y relate to the General Electric DSQR program. Includes maintaining applicable logs, supporting EV1 audits, preparing bar codes, inspections, follow-up with CA, preparing first articles reports within GE's electronic programAssist as needed with customer and regulatory auditsOTHERMaintain a full understanding of United Performance Metals' Quality Manual, Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions: How they relate to AMS, ASTM, AISI, AS9100 and ISO-9001 RequirementsContinued education and training of metals applications, industry requirements, and customer focus activitiesGeneral housekeeping in accordance with the quality expectationsAssist as needed with internal auditsMaintain customer property within established proceduresMaintain and report on shelf life sensitive items that are maintained in inventory to insure the products are not expired beyond useDuties as assigned by supervisorQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
