IT Project Specialist, Level 1 Project Management Office IT Project Liaison GENERAL DUTIES This position encompasses professional responsibilities for the oversight, planning, work management, coordination, analysis, functional design, and quality assurance associated with the assessment and implementation of information technology initiatives, policies, strategic plans and goals with varying levels of difficulty and with varying degrees of latitude for independent action and judgment. Under administrative direction of a university IT manager, with broad latitude for independent action or decision, all personnel perform information technology project work that delivers secure, effective application systems and technology solutions for business needs using established project methodologies and best practices throughout all phases of the IT project lifecycle. In addition to using traditional project methodologies and best practices throughout all phases of the IT project lifecycle, where appropriate, an IT Project Specialist applies their experience with specific and/or emerging technologies and non-standard IT projects to identify patterns and make recommendations on approach, methodologies and policies. There are three (3) Assignment Levels within this classification. All personnel perform related work. Assignment Levels 2 and 3 may also supervise staff. CONTRACT TITLE IT Project Specialist FLSA Non-exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION The City College of New York (CCNY) is the founding institution of The City University of New York (CUNY) and is comprised of outstanding programs in architecture, engineering medicine, and liberal arts and sciences. Annual enrollment is typically 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Leading CUNY in funded research, CCNY hosts several research centers including two new advanced research centers. CCNY's Office of information Technology (OIT) is a vital component of the college's operation responsible for software applications, hardware support, telecommunications, media services, network infrastructure, instructional technologies and information security. The OIT Project Management Office is committed to collaborating within the college community to deliver excellent information technology products and services. Under the direction of the Lead Project Coordinator, the IT Project Liaison & Agile Delivery Lead will be responsible coordinating IT operational and developmental projects while driving cultural shift in how IT delivers value. He/she will orchestrate the planning and implementation of IT segments of college based projects in consultation with multitude of stakeholders, including between OIT units, the office of facilities, academic and administrative leadership, City University of New York (CUNY), Dormitory Authority of New York (DASNY), contractors, and project stakeholders to develop clear objectives, evaluating and maintaining projects overall technical integrity. This role combines classic project management skills with modern delivery practices, including Agile, Lean, and hybrid methodologies, and serves as a change agent to improve project outcomes, increase transparency and enhance customer satisfaction. The incumbent will guide and coach technical and cross-functional teams in adopting modern project delivery approaches, help standardize processes, and ensure continuous improvement in how projects ae prioritized, executed, and measured for value. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of satisfactory full-time experience in the oversight, planning, work management, coordination, analysis, functional design, and quality assurance associated with the assessment and implementation of information technology initiatives, policies, strategic plans and goals; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in u201c1u201d above; or 3. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent and ten (10) years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in u201c1u201d above; or 4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to
