The YMCA Preschool Program is designed to support the growth and success of children cognitively, physically, emotionally and socially. Using developmentally appropriate materials, curriculum and activities in a play based environment, your child will be supported in learning social skills, Kindergarten readiness skills and engage in physical activities. The Preschool Teacher will assist in the supervision of children ages 2 to 5 years of age, plan and implement activities for participants for the Preschool at the Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA branch location.For more on Y Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)Schedule:Location: Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCAPreschool runs Monday-Friday, year-roundWork schedule is Monday through Friday (8:30am-5:30pm)Full TimeSpecific age enrolled : 2 - 5 years oldGeneral housekeeping of program space and food preparationPlan and coordinate activities that fit children's developmental needs and interestsRecord and monitor the daily activities of children in your careAssist in the planning and preparation of the creative learning environment, establishment of interest centers, and preparation of needed material and suppliesCommunicate with parents effectively and create a positive relationshipInteract with children being consistent, fair and treating them with dignity and respect according to the YMCA Code of ConductComply with Community Care Licensing regulations at all timesMaintain the cleanliness and health standards of the environment at all timesEnsure the supervision and safety of children at all timesPlan and implement daily schedule and curriculumPlan, supervise and implement the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCAFollow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staff Must be highly dependableMust have sincere interest in working with children 2-5 years of ageMust have a warm and friendly personality and the sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse populationMust have willingness to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance to the program and branch goalsPhysical ability to lift children as needed, change and clean a soiled child, interact and direct playVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situationPhysical ability to lead sports, games and curriculum activities, monitor behavior and general housekeeping responsibilitiesAbility to relate to children and adults in a professional manner. Ability to provide leadership and stability to the programOther duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles12 CORE units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) required, AA or BA in Early Childhood Education are highly desirableECE Core courses include: Child Growth & Development, Child, Family and Community and Program/CurriculumMinimum of 6 months experience working with youth in a preschool settingCriminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictionsA physical exam and negative TB test results within 7 days of hirePediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following:American Red CrossAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Safety & Health InstituteYMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
