Help us transform the way the world nourishes itself by ensuring the health and care of our top-performing animals.TheSwine Care Technicianis at the heart of PIC's operations, with a hands-on role in maintaining the highest standards of animal health and welfare on our farms.Entry-level position with limited prior training or relevant work experienceWork as a team player by accomplishing daily department work requirements and farm goalsDaily animal husbandry tasksMaintain accurate and timely production information and records as requiredAssist in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flowsTreat sick animals with a variety of pharmaceuticals by injection, oral application, and/or other methods as requiredAssist with maintaining barn, including sanitizing and washing multiple areas on the farm using high pressure equipment, as well as office cleanliness and laundry dutiesFlexibility with a willingness to change plans according to the direction of farm leadershipAdhere to the Company’s animal care policies and procedures including: providing a physical environment that meets the animal’s needs, providing access to adequate water and high quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasiaRead and understand the company’s emergency notification process and how it applies to their specific worksiteAbide by all company policies, procedures and guidelines as directed by farm leadership, including but not limited to:The Company’s Safety Program, understanding all safety requirements of the job and performing the job in compliance with those safety requirementsThe Company’s bio-security protocolsAll environmental laws and procedures as well as report all environmental issues immediately to supervisorPrevious livestock handling, preferredAbility to work both autonomously and within a team environmentAbility to follow instructions and deal with standardized situationsAbility to work in and maintain performance expectations in a fast-paced environmentWork requires attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesMinimal, if any travelGenus strives to provide beef, dairy and pork producers with superior breeding stock to enable the production of affordable and nutritious animal protein for consumers.
