Are you looking for a new challenge?Apply today at Electric Boat and become part of a team that takes pride in building the world's most advanced submarines!Benefits include:Paid trainingMedical, Dental, & Vision401K plan with up to 6% employer matchPaid vacations and holidaysGrowth opportunitiesShift PremiumHealth and Wellness ProgramsCommuter Van Service/RIPTATuition Reimbursement ProgramsSafety Boot Reimbursement ProgramDuties include, but are not limited to:Fitting Hull butts, critical inserts and penetrationsLayout, fabrication, assembly and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packagesDeveloping a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operationsInterpreting construction drawings/blueprintsAligning parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips and wedges through use of blueprints and templatesTack-welding structural parts as requiredUtilizing hands and power tools in the steel fabrication tradeAbility to read and interpret written policies, procedures and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard proceduresWork conditions may include entry in restricted/confined spacesThis position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.Required:High school diploma or equivalentOR a minimum of 2 years related technical experienceShipfitting, metal fabrication and/or relevant experience or trainingAvailable to work all shiftsAbility to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as requiredAbility to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functionsBasic mathematical skillsIndividuals are required to possess their own basic hand toolsPreferred:Steel fabrication or carpentry experienceExperience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environmentMetal fabrication experienceVocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programsMilitary/Navy experienceStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goalsClimbing, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, TwistingCold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily
