Visit and follow @ScientificAmerican / @SciamAbout the RoleScientific American seeks an audio-focused multimedia editor to produce our flagship podcast program, Science, Quickly, and to expand the show's audience and reach. The editor will work closely with engagement, art and text editors in a collaborative and creative environment to produce episodes on highly important scientific news and stories.This role is based in our New York office on a hybrid working model.Role Responsibilities:- Produce multiple podcast episodes a week, in close collaboration with the host, show runner, and executive producer- Report to the chief multimedia editor, and work with editors across Scientific American- Work on audio distribution strategies for Scientific American's website and social spaces- Help coordinate our production operations, managing both field and studio recordings- Contribute to team discussions, idea-generation, and editorial strategy- Develop awareness of timely issues in science, science policy and the scientific community- Help identify breaking news stories and trending topics for coverage- Work to ensure consistent deliverables that meet the high standards of quality and audio storytelling at Scientific AmericanExperience, Skills & Qualifications:Essential- At least 3 years of experience in audio reporting, editing and post-production- A wide range post-production and editing abilities, with experience in the Adobe suite, particularly in Audition and Descript- Be able to successfully juggle projects and people across different deadlines and timescales- Show a portfolio of recent, relevant work- Work collaboratively and collegiallyDesirable- Experience in science, technology or health journalism- An undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM field, or a master's in journalism- Have at least one skill that you would like to develop professionally-and at least one skill you can gift to others on the teamSpringer Nature US provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package which includes the benefit offerings listed below:- Medical, Dental and Vision- 401(k) with company match and contribution- Hybrid office working policy, Summer Hours, and paid time off- Flexible Spending and Commuter programs- Multiple Life insurance options- Disability coverage- Tuition Assistance- Voluntary benefits: Identity Theft Protection, Pet Insurance, and Legal Assistance Insurance- Employee Assistance Program- Family friendly benefits and a variety of employee discounts- An array of Employee Social NetworksUS Annualized Base Salary: $78,000 - $90,000.
