Principal Engineer I - System Engineering

Collaborate with expert teams and leadership to ensure our technology roadmap remains robust and forward-thinking.How You’ll Make an ImpactInstall new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, troubleshoot systems issues, and resolve software, vulnerability and security related issuesPerform system backups and recoveryMaintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity and securitySupport technologies including operating systems, servers, networks, system security, hardware and other software applicationsTroubleshoot system issues and resolve or escalate to the appropriate fix agentResearch, design, document, implement, and manage complex systems and related technologies in support of the wireless engineering labCreate and update system documentation, including configurations and backup proceduresProduce required technical documentation, and reviews and improves documentation and designsWork with cross-functional teams and advise leadershipProvide technology leadership and drive the Wireless Lab Technology roadmap with stakeholders and partnersEstablish the integrity, viability, functionality and capacity of wireless lab System architectures by writing and executing detailed test plans and documenting test resultsTest and certify wireless lab systems and related technologies for features, compatibility, interoperability, function and capacityEvaluate vendors, products, and solutions without bias or predisposition to make informed recommendations and fully documents findingsProvide technical support and guidance to wireless lab personnel and ensures all technical standards and documentation requirements are metMentor and guide the work of technical staffInteract with and manages tasks with members of cross-functional teamsManage multiple projects simultaneously without supervisionPerform other duties as requested by managerWorking ConditionsOffice environmentWhat You’ll Bring to SpectrumRequired QualificationsEducationMaster’s or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experienceExperience5+ years engineering work experience5+ years project management work experienceSkillsAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishKnowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocolsKnowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topologyKnowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI ModelBasic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operationsKnowledge of network devices and basic network appliancesExperience using network designing software, such as Visioor Lucid ChartsAbility to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quicklyAbility to use personal computer and software applicationsKnowledge of computer servers and various operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows)Knowledge of Virtualization and HypervisorsPreferred QualificationsEducationIndustry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)SkillsKnowledge of Spectrum products and services.Deep knowledge and Experience in Operating Systems, Virtualization, Storage, and related technologies.Knowledge and Experience in creating engineering documentation packages including Engineering Design Document, Data Flow Diagram, Call Flow Diagram, Implementation Guide, Operations Guide, Maintenance Guide, Method of Procedure, Technical Bulletin, Test Plan, and Test Results.Knowledge and Experience in Linux systems administration, application and OS tuning.Knowledge and Experience in Windows systems administration, application and OS tuning.#LI-DH1 EGN601 2025-57784 2025 Here, our employees don’t just have jobs, they're building careers. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
