Shop Mechanic 2nd Shift

Stone Express, Inc., a division of the H&K Group, Inc., is looking for 2nd shift Shop Mechanics. Competitive salary commensurate with experience100% Company-paid Health Benefits401(k) Savings and Investment PlanTuition reimbursement programs available to qualifying employees for approved programsAdditional training programs including on the job, online through H&K Academy, manufacturer offered training, and moreEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policiesReads job order and observes and listens to truck or equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes, or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.Replaces gas or diesel engines.Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and adjusts.Lubricates and services vehiclesFabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to schematic drawings.Collision repair, sand, prep, and paintCompletes all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailersOther duties as assignedRequired Skills, Education, and ExperienceOne-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field OR 2 years of related experience and/or trainingEquivalent combinations of education and experience may be consideredClass A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one yearClean driving recordCustomer Service and TeamworkMathematical SkillsWilling and able to work a 2nd shift scheduleAbility to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as neededAbility to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience4 years of related experience and/or trainingState Inspection licenseExperience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarriesOSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certificationsPhysical DemandsOccasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, climb, balance, and crawlFrequently required toStoop, crouch, kneelUse hands to finger, feel, and graspOccasionally lift and/or move up to 75 poundsWork EnvironmentNoise level is loud at timesAt times required to work outdoors in all environmentsHours regularly exceed 40 in a week and 8 in a dayStone Express, Inc.was initially organized in 2004 to manage the complex internal logistical and hauling needs of the H&K Group quarries, asphalt plants and sand pits.
