The opportunity we can offer is one-of-a-kind.We apply advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, AR/VR, Cloud Native and Quantum Physics to solve our customersâ missions in cyber, RF, undersea, interstellar and everything in between.ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:As a Quality Technician for General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Precision Structures ,Optics (PSO), youâll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for refining and completing the skills necessary to accomplish first piece, in-process, receiving and final inspection on any product, component, or part, assuring compliance with all customer specifications, requirements, and tolerances. , The Quality Technician performs overall quality inspection for machined parts to include dimensional and visual inspection techniques to ensure they meet the companyâs quality standards for the manufacture of Beryllium products for use in the most demanding applications, across the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries. , Our products are used in high performance sensing systems for targeting and acquisition, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, and are hardened for the battlefield environment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reviewâs instructions, drawings, blueprints, process sheets and specifications per customer requirementsReads and interprets complex drawings and process sheets. , Uses shop formulas to make calculations requiring knowledge of geometry and basic trigonometry in accordance with ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)Deviseâs inspection methods to inspect and check components according to customer specifications and requirements or uses established standard methodPerforms first piece, in-process and/or final inspection on all products, components and parts for characteristics, tolerances, alignment, finish, locations and geometrical tolerances as requiredDetermines allowable variations. , Establishes critical values for surface finishes, interference fits and very close bearing clearances at both room and/or elevated temperatures. , Constantly measures in 1-5 micro inch rangeMatches components for interference fits and makes dimensional checks involving tolerances in the 3-5 micro inch rangeSets up, calibrates and cross checks sensitive measuring instruments, such as Dia-mets, mikrokator, Talysurf and special gapping fixtures or toolsUses precision measuring and checking instruments in making inspection checksInspects surfaces to establish values of roughness or porosity defects. , Insures against cracks, scratches, pores, etc. , Makes determination as to disposition such as appropriate corrective action or to rejectVerifies dimensional values of assemblies and sub-assembliesOn items that will be coated or anodized, makes determination of final size prior to lapping so that when coating is applied the final size will be correctPerforms non-destructive hardness testing as requiredFills out inspection reports by posting data such as special processes, identification number and customer name using computerized data sheetsWorks with and explains to customer any pertinent information about the part, inspection procedure, compliance with specifications, etc.Works closely with Manufacturing by relaying information necessary for machine adjustments on manufacturing floorPrepares QA documentationIdentifies part to drawing requirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:, Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancingStrong knowledge of statistics and process control techniquesStrong knowledge of operation of automated test equipmentSkilled in using PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel)Skilled in use of basic mechanical measurement toolsSkilled in the set-up of basic mechanical test configurationsOur Commitment to You:An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning a developmentResearch oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nationâs securityFlexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health and wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and moreWorkplace Options:This position is fully on-site.While on-site, you will be a part of the Cullman, AL facility.Target salary range: USD $30.36/Hr. - USD $32.56/Hr.
