No County Wayne Street Address 7665 Dry Dock Road City Lyons State NY Zip Code 14489 Duties Description Reporting to the Canal Maintenance Supervisor 2 (Operations), Canal Section Superintendent, and/or the Transportation Maintenance Engineer (Waterways), the duties of the requested position include, but are not limited to, the following:u2022 Performs skilled work at the journey-level in the maintenance, repair and installation of canal floating plant and building electrical systems and equipment.u2022 Plans layout and installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.u2022 Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.u2022 Installs, maintains, and repairs generators, motors, lighting, signal systems, and electrical equipment.u2022 Repairs and tests electrical work and devices.u2022 Repairs and maintains signal controls, lights, pumping equipment, signs, oil burners and other mechanisms.u2022 Acts as a trouble shooter on electrical repairs.u2022 Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of all components using standard instruments.u2022 Conducts a program of preventative maintenance.u2022 Maintains navigation lighting systems.Preferred Qualifications: u2022Working knowledge and understanding of AC/DC power. u2022 A valid Commercial Driveru2019s License appropriate to the type of vehicles and equipment operated may be required. Minimum Qualifications Trades Specialist (Electrician): Candidates must have four years of full-time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program, or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in the electrical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services; OR successful completion of the two-year Trades Specialist (Electrician) traineeship or a two-year electrician training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship and Certificate Program.
