No County Erie Street Address XXX City Buffalo State NY Zip Code 14214 Duties Description In this position the Plant Utility Engineer 1 (PUE1) will function as a stationary engineer in the central plant utilities of the UB campuses. The PUE1 may be assigned to the Chilled Water Plant, the Heating Plant, or the decentralized utilities production plants in our downtown campus.Key responsibilities and tasks include:u2022 Operate boiler feed water pumps, aerator, electric or steam driven feed water and condensate pumps, atmospheric drain tanks, cascade feeders, nitrogen and steam pressurization systems.u2022 Operate steam and hot water boilers including lighting off, firing, cleaning and shutting down system.u2022 Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment, steam, gas and water lines, and other related plumbing heating or ventilation equipment.u2022 Troubleshoot, repair and calibrate electronic and pneumatic combustion and HVAC control systems.u2022 Lubricate machinery and other preventative maintenance tasks in the boiler, chiller, pump and mechanical equipment rooms.u2022 Perform customer service duties when needed.u2022 Afford supervision and training of PUA personnel in safe plant operation.u2022 Participate in in-service training courses and on-the-job instruction relative to utility plant operation and engineering.u2022 Operate large central absorption, centrifugal, screw driven and hermetic chiller systems and other refrigeration equipment.u2022 Starting, regulating and troubleshooting to maintain proper temperature.u2022 Operate related auxiliary air-conditioning equipment, such as cooling towers, evaporative coolers, fan coils, vacuum pumps, purge chillers, and water cooled condensers.u2022 Conduct chilled water and condenser water chemical analysis to maintain proper residuals.u2022 Perform all system maintenance.Learn more:u2022 Our benefits, where we prioritize your well-being and success to enhance every aspect of your life.u2022 Being a part of the University at Buffalo community.University at Buffalo is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and, in keeping with our commitment, welcomes all to apply including veterans and individuals with disabilities. Must have been an enlisted machinery technician (MK) with the U.S. Coast Guard OR possession of a certificate as a Marine Engineer issued by the U.S. Coast Guard;Or 3. Must have been an enlisted power generation equipment repairer with the U.S. Army;Or 4. Must have been an enlisted gas turbine systems technician, submarine nuclear propulsion plant operator reactor control, utilities man, machinist mate, or engineman with the U.S. Navy;Or 5. Must have a Merchant Marineru2019s Document (MMD) and have been a qualified member of the engine department (QMED) as an oiler, fireman/water tender, refrigerating engineer or engineman with the U.S. Merchant Marine;Or 6. Completion of a New York State Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for stationary engineers, plant maintenance (plumber/steamfitter), HVAC Mechanic or plant maintenance (refrigeration/AC) (See Note #1);Or 7. Possession of a High-Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer License or Stationary Engineer License;Or 8. A bacheloru2019s degree in Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Marine Engineering;Or 9. An associateu2019s degree in HVAC;Or 10. One year of full-time hands on experience in the maintenance and operation of commercial, industrial, institutional facility, computer applications of digital energy platforms and building analytics and/or performing diagnosis, repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment;Or 11. One year of full-time hands on experience in a residential setting performing diagnosis, operation, maintenance repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment;Or 12.
