Learn more at The Peer Review Specialist provides leadership and coordination for the provider peer review processes across the facilities and service areas within Mount Carmel Health System and affiliate joint venture businesses as assigned. For example: demonstrates friendliness and courtesy, effective communication creates a professional environment and provides first class service. + u00b7 Meets population specific and all other competencies according to department requirements. + u00b7 Promotes a Culture of Safety by adhering to policy, procedures and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence or adverse outcome to associates and patients. + u00b7 Relationship-based Care: Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their experience at Mount Carmel following the principles of our interdisciplinary care delivery system. + u00b7 (For patient care providers) Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Programu00ae. + u00b7 Supports Clinical Performance Improvement Activities + o Maintains knowledge of clinical indicators and compliance requirements + o Provides concurrent medical record review for assigned clinical indicator documentation + o Provides regular feedback to clinical staff, managers and educators. + o Receives verbal and/or places orders as required in support of quality measure compliance + o Identifies learning needs related to national hospital quality measures and provides individual education. Refers to professional practice educators as indicated. + o Provides support for the development of improvement strategies, researches, communicates and incorporates best practice. + u00b7 Manages Outcomes Data + o Maintains expertise in clinical documentation systems + o Serves as an internal consultant to clinical departments in documentation requirements. + o Manages assigned clinical databases to assure nationally accepted definitions are being adhered to, and that comparative data are accurate, complete and current. + o Manages systems and processes for reporting to staff, managers, and other leadership. + o Manages daily exception reporting process, including follow-up with clinical staff and adherence to escalation policies. + u00b7 Supports Quality / Care Management Division-wide Goals and Initiatives + o Assists with surveys of the hospital performed by Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory agencies. + o Participates on hospital committees as assigned. + o Performs other duties as assigned by the Director. Requirements/Qualifications + u00b7 Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field required. + u00b7 Licensure / Certification: As required by discipline. + u00b7 Experience: Thorough knowledge of healthcare systems with at least three (3) years of clinical, hospital experience. + u00b7 Prior experience in performance improvement and/or outcomes management preferred + u00b7 Effective Communication Skills + u00b7 Strong written and verbal skills, including the ability to provide education to professional staff and physicians. + u00b7 Strong interpersonal skills. + u00b7 Demonstrated ability in computer usage and software applications. + u00b7 Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language Discovering opportunities, support and excellence u2013 all while making a real difference in patientsu2019 lives u2013 begins at Mount Carmel.
