The ideal candidate we are searching for: Assists in overseeing recreational and maintenance activities within one of the Department of Parks and Recreationu2019s five operational regions. Positions in this class report to an Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation and support the overall management of regional park operations, including grounds maintenance, recreation programs, golf course operations, and coordination of construction and planning efforts. Incumbents must have a strong knowledge of departmental objectives, policies, and operations to effectively assist in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the work of an assigned region. For more information, please view the classification specification:Regional Operations Manager ( Follow us on Social Media Essential Job Functions + Under the direction of an Assistant Director, manages the recreation services, crafts and ground maintenance, and regional safety/security operations of the Department of Parks and Recreation + Oversees fiscal and labor-related matters by working with appropriate divisions, on budgets, contracts, grants, and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) within a Parks and Recreation operational agency + Directs highly complex or sensitive assignments + Prepares or manages the preparation of various documents of a sensitive, complex, or political nature + Represents Parks and Recreation services, facilities, programs and the Department at various meetings + Collaborates with appropriate Departmental services, County departments, community stakeholders, and/or Federal, State, and local agencies on a variety of issues + Assumes the duties of the Assistant Director (in absence of) + Maintains current knowledge related to Parks and Recreation services, facilities, and programs Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Option I:Four years of experience at the level ofRegional Park Superintendent II ( or higher, supervising the overall operation of a regional park or division within the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation. Option II: Five years of experience as a Regional Grounds Maintenance Supervisor (grounds maintenance supervisor&pagetype=classSpecifications) within the County of Los Angeles Department. Option III: Four years of supervisory experience at the level ofAdministrative Services Manager II (services manager iii&pagetype=classSpecifications) or higher, overseeing a unit responsible for one of the following areas: recreation program development, capital projects, environmental or facility planning, procurement, grant administration, contract development, non-profit operation, human resources operation, budget or finance management, or a closely related area. For all three options, graduation with a bacheloru2019s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university will be accepted for two years of the required experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION: Experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Regional Park Superintendent II is defined as having immediate responsibility for supervising the overall operations of large regional park. Acceptable classes for Regional Park Superintendent II include, but are not limited to: Regional Recreation Director Superintendent, Bonelli Regional Park Experience as a Regional Grounds Maintenance Supervisor within the County of Los Angeles Department is defined as d irects all grounds maintenance and custodial work in an agency of the Department of Parks and Recreation. To qualify underOption II,applicants must have County status in this classification, as evidenced by holding or having held such a payroll title.NO OUT-OF-CLASS EXPERIENCE WILL BE ACCEPTED. Experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Administrative Services Manager II is defined as supervising a unit of analysts responsible for performing a full range of difficult to complex analytical assignments within one or more administrative functional areas and makes recommendations on highly complex issues which directly impact departmental programs and administrative operations, and which may be of a confidential or sensitive nature. Acceptable classes for Administrative Services Manager II include, but are not limited to: Human Resources Analyst IV Program Specialist IV, CEO Senior Staff Analyst, Health Services To receive credit for your education, include a legible copy of your official diploma, official transcript, or letter/certificate from an accredited institution within seven (7) calendar days from filing.
