Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Amherst, New York. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate entries and adherence to month-end and year-end closing processes. u2022 Prepare and review journal entries to support the timely completion of financial closings. u2022 Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. u2022 Conduct cost analysis to evaluate manufacturing expenses, variances, and pricing strategies to support decision-making. u2022 Analyze and summarize financial data to meet monthly and annual reporting deadlines. u2022 Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect company assets and maintain accurate financial data. u2022 Handle multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational and prioritization skills. u2022 Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless financial operations and reporting processes. Requirements u2022 Proficiency in managing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts. u2022 Strong knowledge of financial reporting principles and practices. u2022 Experience in conducting cost analysis and evaluating manufacturing expenses. u2022 Familiarity with preparing financial statements in compliance with accounting standards. u2022 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. u2022 Ability to establish and maintain internal controls and safeguard financial data. u2022 Effective communication and collaboration skills for working in a team environment. u2022 Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven setting.
