The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research on host cellular pathway remodeling during viral infections with a focus on HIV-1 projects. The laboratory applies state-of-the-art mass spectrometry-based proteomics technologies to assess pathways in an unbiased manner, combined with any number of additional tools (e.g., genomics/epigenetic profiling, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and traditional molecular and cell biology approaches). Research projects include, but are not limited to: (1) investigating the function of HIV-1 accessory genes; (2) identifying novel, functional kinase-substrate interactions in viral and/or innate immune pathways; and (3) identifying novel roles of ubiquitin E3 ligases and deubiquitinases in viral and/or innate immune pathways. A successful candidate will have a recent Ph.D. in virology, microbiology, immunology, or a related field. Experience with HIV-1 is required. Experience one or more of the following techniques is preferred: primary cell culture, medium- to large-scale genetic screening (e.g, RNAi or CRISPR/Cas9), next-generation genomics, or mass spectrometry-based proteomics. Competency interpreting genome- or proteome-wide data using traditional programming (e.g., Perl, Python, C/C++) or a programming environment (e.g., R, Matlab) is also a plus.
