Job Description Team Overview The Infrastructure Delivery Engineering team at Oracle is revolutionizing end-to-end data center planning, design, construction and operations by developing innovative software solutions. By standardizing data center building and implementing advanced analytics, we streamline data center design and construction, enabling rapid scalability. Role Overview The Optical Fiber Architect will be responsible for designing and driving the end- to-end optical fiber strategy for Oracleu2019s global datacenters. This role will focus on defining robust fiber architectures, selecting appropriate fiber types and connectors, and ensuring best-in-class deployment practices, including splicing, testing, and cable management. The Architect will work closely with internal engineering teams and external vendors to deliver high-performance, scalable, and reliable optical infrastructure across Oracleu2019s datacenter portfolio. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: u2022 Define and maintain the overall fiber optic architecture for datacenter deployments, including backbone, interconnect, and cross-connect designs. u2022 Provide expertise in fiber types (single-mode, multi-mode, etc.), connectors, cable management, and installation standards. u2022 Develop processes, playbooks, and standards for fiber deployment, splicing, and testing. u2022 Partner with vendors to evaluate technologies, select materials, and oversee delivery of fiber solutions that meet Oracleu2019s performance, cost, and reliability standards. u2022 Evaluate and integrate innovation and next-generation optics technology into Oracleu2019s roadmap. u2022 Integrate optical infrastructure into structured cabling designs, ensuring scalable, repeatable, and globally consistent deployments. u2022 Review and approve fiber design drawings, schematics, and engineering packages. u2022 Oversee acceptance testing and validation of deployed fiber systems. u2022 Collaborate with datacenter delivery, networking, and facilities teams to support standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements while ensuring alignment of optical design with project timelines and operational requirements. u2022 Provide technical leadership and guidance on optical infrastructure for global datacenter programs. u2022 Drive continuous improvement in fiber management practices, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and long-term reliability. Basic Requirements u2022 15+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on optical infrastructure and datacenter deployments. u2022 Deep expertise in fiber optic technologies, including fiber types, connectors, cable management, and termination practices. u2022 Proven hands-on experience with fiber deployment processes, including splicing, cleaning, labeling, and testing (OTDR, power meters, etc.). u2022 Solid track record in designing and implementing datacenter fiber architectures at scale. u2022 Experience designing and implementing structured cabling systems in hyperscale datacenter environments. u2022 Experience working closely with vendors for fiber and cable supply, installation, and quality assurance. u2022 Strong knowledge of industry standards and best practices for optical cabling infrastructure. u2022 Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical, cost, and operational requirements. u2022 Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across engineering, operations, and vendor teams. Preferred Requirements u2022 Experience in hyperscale or large-scale datacenter environments. u2022 Familiarity with structured cabling systems and large-scale cable management strategies. u2022 Knowledge of emerging optical technologies (e.g., advanced connectors, bend-insensitive fiber, automated fiber management). u2022 Bacheloru2019s or Masteru2019s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field. u2022 Certification in BICSI RCDD, or similar industry-recognized credentials. u2022 Demonstrated leadership in standardizing optical infrastructure across a global portfolio. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range in USD from: $161,700 to $338,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
