Job Summary The American Action Forum seeks au00a0Policy Editor & Deputyu00a0Communications Director.u00a0This in-officeu00a0positionu00a0worksu00a0closelyu00a0with a variety ofu00a0issueu00a0experts to quicklyu00a0andu00a0effectivelyu00a0shape andu00a0edit policyu00a0productsu00a0to achieveu00a0the mostu00a0clear,u00a0concise, andu00a0marketable presentation.u00a0This editor willu00a0ensureu00a0research and other products haveu00a0appropriate framing,u00a0consistency ofu00a0argument,u00a0organization,u00a0language, andu00a0tone.u00a0u00a0u00a0 The ideal candidateu00a0hasu00a0atu00a0least two years of policy editing experience,u00a0exceptional writing/editing skills,u00a0proficiencyu00a0in AP/Chicago Style, and the ability to quickly shift focus and multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.u00a0Au00a0federal policy background is strongly preferred.u00a0 Daily tasks include editing products such as research, columns, op-eds,u00a0and testimony, and writing/editing press releasesu00a0and other marketing language.u00a0This position will also assist the Communicationsu00a0teamu00a0inu00a0carrying out the overall communications strategy foru00a0the organization,u00a0determining the most effective medium for forthcoming policy work, pitching products to media for the most impactful coverage, cultivating relationships with reporters in select policy areas, leveraging AAF events to promote research and policy content, and keeping track of the news cycle so that products are released and promoted in a timely and effective way.u00a0u00a0 Responsibilities and Duties + This position is responsible for editing AAFu2019s written products and contributing to the Communications team's overallu00a0strategy, productivityu00a0and effectiveness + Cultivating reporter relationships, working closely with others to publish work as quickly as possible Qualifications and Skills + Degree in journalism and/or 2+ years of related work experience is preferred + Excellent editing, writingu00a0and verbal communication skills + Broad working knowledge of U.S. federal policyu00a0 + Ability to multi-task and shift priorities efficiently with little notice + An interest in working for a think tank that emphasizes smaller government, sensible conservative policy solutions, and smart policy options that benefit the American public and avoid unnecessary federal government overreach Benefitsu00a0 Health coverage, paidu00a0time off, retirement savings plan, cell phone reimbursement, gym membership.
