Kalogon, a smart seating startup based in Melbourne, seeks a top notch Mechanical Engineer to help us expand our product lines as we adapt our seating technology for new customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing complex projects, designing for manufacture, and in collaborating across all parts of a business.What Youll DoDesign & DevelopmentTranslate product design requirements into thoughtful mechanical designs and solutions to meet customer needsFocus on electromechanical assembly design and work with electronics designer and product to figure out efficient integrated solutions for electromechanical systemsWork with Engineering team leader on deciding the right process for prototyping and volume production of partsDesigning injection moldable assemblies and supporting the production handoffCreate detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using OnshapeDevelop and maintain design documentation, including specifications, test procedures, assembly instructions, and technical reports to meet criteria for inclusion in required reportingCollaborate with cross-functional teams touching every part of the businessProject ManagementManage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraintsCoordinate with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturing partners to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectivenessParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analysis investigationsPresent thorough project updates to stakeholders and managementCultivate empathy with end users and ensure you understand their perspective and how it applies to your workIdentify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction initiativesContribute to the development of engineering standards and proceduresSupport manufacturing processes and resolve production-related technical issuesTesting & ValidationDesign and execute test protocols to validate product performance, reliability, and safetyAnalyze test data and implement design improvements based on findingsSupport prototype development and participate in design verification activitiesTroubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actionsSkills & Experience RequiredEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience with at least 2 full product development cycles under your beltProven track record of successfully completing complex engineering projects from concept to productionFamiliarity and previous collaboration on connected devices controlled by softwareTechnical SkillsProficiency in 3D CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, Fusio360, Creo, or similar)Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals including mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processesExperience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) softwareFamiliarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principlesUnderstanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal design and fabrication, machining, welding, casting, and injection moldingExperience with rapid prototyping technologies (3D printing, CNC machining)Beneficial and Bonus ExperienceMedical device experienceExperience in seating ergonomics or seating engineeringKnowledge of aviation or aerospace seating standards and certification requirementsUnderstanding of software development processes and agile methodologiesExport-Control RequirementsTo conform to the U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. ? 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. ? 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
