Title: Principal Project Manager - Rolling StockLocation: 1601 5th Avenue, Suite 800, Seattle, WA 98101Duties: Lead rolling stock engineering consulting teams and business development for relevant consulting services. Provide strategic consultant advice and planning, provide solutions for rail fleet expansion, upgrade, procurement, and new technologies. Monitor the progress of projects and work with clients and stakeholders to resolve critical technical issues. Oversee the management of contract budgets. Manage projects up to contract size of $40 million USD. Provide rolling stock project management and technical expertise to external and internal clients. Maintain and build client relationships to grow the business. Provide strategic advice and oversight of vehicle procurement, and performance improvement projects. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure rolling stock integration is addressed. Manage utilization and professional development of rolling stock staff. Assign staff to projects and coordinate rolling stock staff workloads. 20% domestic and international travel to visit clients and suppliers, attend conferences, and meet with direct reports. Position is fixed location based in Seattle, WA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed occasionally.Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field plus ten (10) years of experience as a senior rolling stock manager, or engineer with experience in rolling stock. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:Ten (10) years in each of the following:Specification development or delivery to complex specificationsWorking with multidisciplinary engineering, including mechanical, electrical, software, communications, human factors, or cyber securityConducting design reviews or systems integrationProducing technical specifications or report writingApplying general knowledge of recognized industry standards and best practice related to rail vehiclesFive (5) years in each of the following:Rail vehicle procurementRepresenting clients in execution of capital programs or delivering complex capital programs to clientsDeveloping proposals to provide engineering services and technical supportDemonstrated experience with various rail modes, vehicle types and suppliers, including light rail vehicles, commuter trains, intercity or high-speed trains, or knowledge of vehicle subsystemsProcessing client requirements into a successful RFP document to procure capital equipment (worth between $500,000 to $200million USD)Performing asset managementLeading or performing project management activities typical to rail vehicle procurement and development, including the following: developing project management plans; leading stakeholder meetings or design reviews with suppliers; leading a team of multidisciplinary subject matter experts to deliver successful project outcomes; controlling and monitoring cost, quality, and project delivery; and, implementing decisions and timely responses to dynamically evolving issues and challenges within projectsTwo (2) years in the following:Managing contract budgetsSalary: $225,000 - $235,000/year.
