The Asian securities intern at the American Enterprise Institute will conduct research in support of Senior Fellow Dan Blumenthal. The Asian securities portfolio focuses on US defense policy and security issues in the Indo-Pacific, including China’s military modernization, Chinese coercion and influence in Asia, and cross-Strait relations. Candidates who are able to participate in the program on an in-person basis for 25-40 hours a week are encouraged to apply.Key responsibilities may include:Monitoring military developments in the region,Researching historical and contemporary events,Compiling sources in English and Chinese, andCollecting and organizing data.The ideal candidate will possess:A demonstrated interest in Asian security,Research experience in defense and military studies or related internship experience,Close attention to detail,The ability to work independently,A positive attitude, andExcellent interpersonal skills.Working proficiency in Mandarin is helpful but not required.About AEI InternshipsAEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation’s leading think tanks. Competitive candidates will generally have a GPA of 3.5 or higher from a top-ranking college or university. AEI’s internship program runs for 12 weeks and all related programming will take place in Washington, DC.
