Scanning Engineer - Tenable

Peraton is seeking an experienced Scanning Engineer with strong Tenable expertise to support its Federal Strategic Cyber Program. This role is ideal for cybersecurity professionals who thrive in vulnerability management and compliance scanning within federal environments.Location: Beltsville, MD (On-site, 5 days/week)Key Responsibilities Include:Vulnerability ScanningConduct regular scans across departmental systems and networksIdentify and prioritize vulnerabilities; recommend remediation strategiesCollaborate with system owners to ensure timely resolutionCompliance ScanningPerform enterprise-wide OS and application compliance checksDevelop scan policies for platforms like Windows, UNIX, Linux, Cisco, JuniperCreate audit reports and Security Assessment Reports using NIST RMF, CSF, and FISMAWeb Application ScanningScan web apps for vulnerabilities and collaborate with developersPromote secure coding practices and monitor emerging threatsDatabase ScanningScan databases for security risks and configuration weaknessesWork with DBAs to implement secure practices and monitor new threats#DSCMMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (or 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)9+ years in enterprise scanning, vulnerability management, or cybersecurityHands-on experience with Tenable.SC and/or Tenable.IO for scanning and architecture tasksMust hold or obtain one of the following certifications prior to start:CASP+ CE, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER, VCA DCV, PPDA, Agile IC, SNOW App DevStrong knowledge of scanning methodologies and best practicesFamiliarity with Windows, UNIX, Linux, Cisco, Juniper systemsDemonstrated excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skillsU.S. Citizenship requiredActive Secret clearance required; must be eligible for a final Top Secret clearanceAre you ready to make an impact in federal cybersecurity? Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
