Amazingly Easy.”As a Sr. Underwriter, you will apply advanced knowledge to develop, underwrite and manage a profitable book of new and renewal business across different premium bands. You will be integral in driving and delivering meaningful contributions to our production underwriting process and customer experience to assist us in achieving our financial targets. You will also work closely with department leadership to execute department strategy, analyze data to generate and implement solutions, and serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for our underwriting team to build a highly skilled and sales-focused team. The Sr. Underwriter fulfills the primary responsibilities of the role by executing the following duties and tasks:Review and evaluate new and renewal workers compensation accounts to determine approval or denial of risksEffectively determine price/premium rate in alignment with our new business and retention plan goalsManage a book of new and renewal business to promote company profitabilityBuild and maintain strong relationships across BerkleyNet and the W.R. Berkley enterprise to profitably grow our businessPartner closely with our Business Development team to coordinate and execute in-person and virtual agency/broker visits to build and foster strong business relationshipsAssist leadership in the development of our new business & retention plan strategy for the upcoming yearManage key relationships with agents, brokers and insureds, and build a program for ongoing management of middle market and large accountsProactively identify areas for process improvement, innovation, and opportunities to improve efficiency and synergy, and generate solutions to drive improvementAid in the management and implementation of strategic initiativesProactively review data metrics to identify new opportunities within the underwriting functionRegularly monitors changes in laws and market conditions that impact underwriting procedures, and partners with leadership to develop strategies to adjust to changing conditionsServe as a mentor and subject matter expert to our underwriting staff to grow them into a more sales-focused team, and improve their technical underwriting skillsLead department or cross-functional project teams, and own and lead department functionsCollaborate effectively across teams to develop and implement strategyRepresent BerkleyNet at agency events, networking events, or within the scope of a relationship with an insuredDemonstrate a deep understanding BerkleyNet’s business and underwriting appetite4 - 6 years of experience in the workers compensation insurance industryAbility to make decisions incorporating diverse perspectivesExcellent prioritization, planning and organization skillsStrong customer orientation including strong interpersonal, communication and consultation skillsAbility to manage and influence in a cross-functional matrix environmentStrong discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive informationAbility to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlinesStrong analytical and quantitative skills coupled with a strategic and “big picture” mindsetProven record of setting delivery commitments and meeting expectationsEducationBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienceCPCU, ARM, or other relevant insurance industry designation preferredThe Company is an equal employment opportunity employer.We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms.The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees.Base salary & Benefits include Health, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness, paid time off, 401(k) and profit-sharing plans.The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.• Low level of domestic U.S. travel required (up to 5% - 10% of time
