No County Putnam Street Address Fahnestock State Park 1498 Route 301 City Carmel State NY Zip Code 10516 Duties Description Under the supervision of the Park Manager 1, SG-18, the candidate will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in support of park operations, focusing on the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems, as well as general building and facility maintenance. The duties of this position will include but are not limited to the following:u2022 Operate and maintain drinking water treatment systems and wastewater systems within the park.u2022 Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, installation, and construction tasks across building trades, with emphasis on plumbing.u2022 Plan, lay out, and execute work in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and instructions.u2022 Estimate and order necessary materials, supplies, and equipment for assigned projects.u2022 Ensure compliance with safety standards and operating procedures.u2022 Use hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment, and measuring or testing instruments appropriate to the assigned trades. u2022 Plan, coordinate, and complete assigned projects with minimal supervision. u2022 Assist in other areas of park operations as required.u2022 Supervise and train staff as needed. Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services Additional Comments Operational Needs: u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid driveru2019s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.u2022 Must have the ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor and be able to work outside in all weather conditions.u2022 Must have the ability to complete journey-level work in the plumbing trade.u2022 Must exhibit a working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in their respective trade. Must have a working knowledge of safety practices and code compliance. u2022 Must be available to work a varied schedule that may include weekends and holiday as operationally necessary.u2022 Must obtain a Water Operator Certificate for Transient non community water supply within the probationary period as a term and condition of employment.The hiring rate listed combines the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 12 ($50,425) with the Downstate Adjustment ($2,000).
