Principal Engineer at Power Engineers in Hailey, Idaho, United States Job Description Principal Engineer Location Boise Secondary Locations Z - None Job Code 18934 # of openings 1 Apply Now (Principal Engineer Job Summary POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is seeking a senior-level electrical engineer to work as a Principal Engineer in the Power Delivery Substation Specialty Services Department in our Substation Business Unit (SBU). This individual is expected to independently develop and apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to unique engineering problems. This principal technical advisor role will lead in assimilating and disseminating complex engineering concepts in the power delivery power transformer subject matter area to internal/external business unit stakeholders. It is desirable that the individual also has experience in substation and generation subject matters. The Principal Engineer will serve as a technical specialist and have the knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams and clients in multiple practice areas and markets, concentrating on the power transformer market. This position reports to the POWER office closest to the employee’s residence, with the flexibility to work remotely from a mutually agreed-upon location. Roles and Responsibilities Support and mentor others in the HV and the EHV substation design and HVDC converter station design. Here are some of the key responsibilities + Provide technical leadership in business development + Develop technical specifications for HV, EHV, and FACTS Substation equipment + Develop performance specifications for HVDC converter station + Serve as the primary liaison between the project team, OEMs and utility clients + Lead design reviews during engineering phase, including cross functional teams + Lead and direct others during detailed design of HVDC converter station balance of plant design as well as design of all interfaces to substation + As SME (Subject Matter Expert), review test plans, witness and approve factory acceptance tests, review commissioning plans and provide technical support during commissioning tests + Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers + Serve as a SME in the company’s KMP (Knowledge Management Program) for HVDC and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) + Organize and oversee the implementation of POWER’s and WSP’s quality process and m To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
